KanjiFlash is a interactive learning program designed to aid Japanese students in recognition and identification of Kanji characters. It includes three levels; first, second and third year, and the option of responding with meaning or pronounciation relating to each character.
To Use:
KanjiFlash is a HyperCard stack. It requires HyperCard 2.0 or better to run. I am assuming that most Macintosh users are familiar with HyperCard and should have no problems operating this stack.
Operation of KanjiFlash:
Open KanjiFlash folder. Double-Click on KanjiFlash icon to open HyperCard, or open KanjiFlash from within HyperCard. At intro card, select level of usage. You will be given the option of entering the meaning or pronounciation of each character, and following your response, the first card in the pile will appear. Each card is flashed for five seconds, then is replaced by an 'Answer' card. To enter answer, first click on the field shown at the bottom of the screen. This will prompt a cursor at the beginning of the line. Type in answer corresponding to character, then click on the 'Answer' button which is above the entry line. If you have entered the correct answer, a bell will sound, and a congratulatory message will appear. If the wrong answer is entered, a buzzer is sounded, and the correct answer will be shown on another card. Five seconds after seeing these cards, the next card in the pile will be flashed, repeating the process. After all cards are shown, your score will be calculated and shown.
Scoring:
Scoring is a simple percentage shown at the completion of each level. The number of correct answers, divided by the total number of cards will equal the percentage shown. At this point, you may quit, or go on to the next level, as you wish.
